Westoak's Builders and Decorators Ltd provide a wide range of building, decorating and building conservation services in St Leonards–on–Sea, Eastbourne, Hastings and Rye. Below you will find a selection of our current projects.

Picture 1: The Creative Media Centre 2 is located in Hastings and is operated by SEASPACE (our local economic development company). Westoak's redecorated throughout its common areas together with some individual offices. This was an occupied and working office at the time of the building and decorating works, and we were able to complete the works quickly and with the absolute minimum disruption to the staff and occupants.

Picture 2: This property involved a major refit with a new traditional shop front transforming it from an existing butcher's shop into a modern property management office with state–of–the–art IT facilities. The upper floors were refurbished at the same time to provide separate flat accommodation. This was a late victorian property.

Due to the lack of available natural ventilation and the client wishing to minimise their carbon footprint the shop was fitted with a single combined heating and cooling air conditioning unit. The Mitsubishi unit has a revolutionary “inverter heat pump” which makes it the most efficient unit available. With this installation the client was able to qualify for additional business tax allowances. We pride ourselves on getting involved in every aspect of construction past, present and future.

Picture 3: This 1930s bungalow was sympathetically extended to allow for a new garage with rear bedroom and adapted access stairs between the new and existing property. The roof structure was technically quite difficult, particularly to the rear elevation, but our carpentry section overcame the problems using the depth of knowledge and experience available within our Company.

Picture 4: These mid–Victorian seafront terraces in St Leonards–on–sea in East Sussex were converted into 12 self–contained flats. In addition to the conversion, the external facade of the property was completely refurbished using the traditional methods of the period. A total of £300,000 was spent on restoring the original architectural features including, the new Welsh slate roof and chimneys, the entire rendered and moulded frontage, the zinc canopies, and the windows, doors and balas trading. The project was featured in the RIBA architectural review at the time of completion. These traditional skills are part of Westoak's Builders and Decorators bespoke specialist services.
